In a controversial move today, the President announced that he was terminating Secretary Nimphoran's employment as the Secretary of the Treasury, effective immediately, and appointing former Presidential Candidate Elsemere to the position, pending Congressional Confirmation.
The Founder later declared his opposition to this move, stating in a message to the NRR that "Secretary Nimphoran is a strong asset to this region, did a great job as secretary, and to fire him is a huge blow to this great region. He will be greatly missed."
In a request for comment, President Wusmeinia stated "I feel we need to get the economy ticking again otherwise I may be forced to declare a recession at the end of my term. When I first joined the Natal was recently introduced, businesses was popping up and people began to buy goods and services. Now no new business has opened up, no transactions have happened using the Natal for several months (in fact there has been some talk of using private currency instead of the Natal). Our economy went from boom to bust in such a short amount of time and the bust is longer than the Boom! I believe that we may need new ideas to turn this economy around, otherwise we may be forced to use another regions currency, our borrowing rating will go down the hole, and we don't have a welfare system so our fellow citizens will be hurt unable to buy the sustenance they need to survive. So that is why because he failed to lead the economy to prosperity instead bringing it down to deep economic hardship."
He also stated his reasoning for firing Nimphoran, "He did a bad job handling the economy, plus he is a congressman so I feel the appointed positions should be given people outside Congress as well the regions only fun is the government and I feel like by keeping Nimphoran there is like keeping all the fun to a few people. I like to try to include as much people as possible. I would move away from this policy if the region had something to offer besides a government job but sadly that is all the Natan Region offers. So I shall employ as many people as possible.
