The results are in for the May 2016 Natan Region General Election, and it will shock you With the highest voter turnout in Natan Region history, Wusmeinia has won the presidency in the biggest landslide in Natan Region history, with an 8-3 (72.73%) margin. "Clearly, the people want a President who is experienced," The Founder said in a public address. When questioned for comment about his victory, the newly-elected Vice President-elect stated " I thank everyone for voting for us and I shall bring a great deal of peace and unity with the power I hold." Wusmeinia, in a telegram call with NRR, stated "Well I wish to thank everyone who voted for me, I also wish to state that I'm probably going to be a more proactive President than ones we had in the pass (the last two didn't really debate and only one vetoed anything). I plan on proposing bills to Congress and debating bills that I vetoed, proposed, and maybe a few others that may warrant my voice but otherwise I plan to let Congress do its thing. I know this is a very stark contrast to my predecessors, but I feel everyone will already have assumed that since I did discuss proposing bills and implied debating them. Well that is my quick take on the topic."
The even more shocking part of the election results, is that Gorthis the sole Parliamentary Party member and least popular candidate for congress, won a seat in a narrow upset, with 2 votes (20%), as did Balloonists, and Ireland won re-election with 3 votes (30%). A runoff will be held between Tetchuan, Northi Arabia, and Nimphoran, who received 1 vote each. "Who the hell voted for Gorthis?" The Founder said in statement. President-Elect Wusmeinia was a little more subtle in his statement, "The Gorthis issue well I don't know what kind of Congressman he'll be, hopefully better than one of the aforementioned people who will not be a congressman," in a public address.
The region also voted today on 2 amendments to the Constitution, the "Free Speech Amendment", which was ratified 9-1, and the "Department of Interior Amendment", which narrowly escaped ratification, with a 7-3 vote.
The Congressional Runoff will be held tomorrow.
